Recently we have been in contact with the Maloof Money Cup website, with them listing us at the top of their blog roll (see the Media Buzz section).

My question was, who are these guys and why Skateboarding? What makes basketball and casino owners want to create a large prize skateboarding event? Why OC (not exacly Kings territory)?

Oddly enough (and forgive my absence of thought… my 3rd baby was born last week!) Transworld Skateboarding did an article on the 5th that I completely missed! The article gave a good insight into Joe Maloof and the intentions behind this tournament. I get an overall opinion that these guys may be a new wave in the world of skateboarding and it might be good to keep an eye on them. Read the article here.

The cup is bringing a mass of names: Ryan Scheckler, Jake Brown, Koston, Lasek, Burnquist and many more from the pro scene. It should bring out a large group of amateurs for display as well.

We will keep an eye out on the Maloof site, this could very well be a nice addition to the OC skate lifestyle and become an annual event to look forward to.
