Planning an event like this should draw instant heartattack for most… it nearly did for me!

For starters, the Wednesday before Mandy Esch suffered a minor motorcycle accident and banged up her knee pretty good. Though not serious it landed her the job of announcer for the competition (in which Mandy was brilliant, I could not have asked for a better person to run it!)

Thursday we received a call from Austin Poynters dad… Austin fell from a 14 foot ramp in Encinitas and broke his wrist… WHAT?!?!?!? Austin is ok, and we hope he can join us in the next event…

So with last minute preparations we were lucky enough to land a few other skaters.Mandy found Wolnei dos Santos at the Volcom park in Costa Mesa Friday afternoon.

Along with Anthony Johnson, Allysha Bergado and OCSkateboarding’s newest sponsored rider Josh Hammock, Wolnei stepped right up and brought the excitement.

All of our skaters made their mark with sick air and plenty of tricks up their sleeves!

The competition showed some great potential in skaters like Xavier Candelaria, Griffin Turner and more (to be announced in the full coverage).

All in all it was a raging success. We had parents and spectators thanking us for a great event afterwards… I scould not have asked for a better reward.

Here is another event from the Girl Riders Organization. If the girl skaters out there haven’t checked them out yet they should. This organization is a bunch of really good women and girls who truly believe in what they are doing.
